Tattoos Designs

Tattoos Designs
You have made the decision to get a tattoo but your not quite sure about the tattoo design. So you run on down to your local tattoo parlor. One of the first things that catch your eye is the fact that there are a whole lot of tattoo designs to choose from. It almost seems like an infinite supply!! I mean all the walls and every inch of the parlor is just covered top to bottom. It’s something that can make you feel completely overwhelmed. How can you choose a tattoo design from a seemingly endless parade of tattoo designs. One thing that I would recommend is not to rely so heavily on the flash that the parlor has available. You should start your research into the tattoo design that you want way before you even set one big toe inside a parlor. This way you already have a rough idea of what you don’t want and can disregard all the designs that don’t meet your criteria. And the tattoo parlor is the perfect place to get a tattoo design roughed out. And you may even come up with a tattoo design that you never ever have thought of.
Tattoos Designs
Tattoo designs are as varied today as the individuals who get them applied. There are many different types of tattoo pictures to choose from and the tattoo layouts are sometimes influenced by your culture. Tribal tattoo designs are one of the most famous and most successful tattoo designs since hundreds of years. Lower back tattoo designs are becoming increasingly popular among the females. Celtic tattoo designs are based on patterns that are thousands of years old and represent the pride and heart of the Celtic people. Star tattoo designs are extremely popular and as such have come to symbolize a different cultural, social and religious meaning for many millions of people. Feminine tattoo designs are becoming a huge hit with women. And bird tattoo designs are tied to some of the most profound meanings in the tattoo world. The tattoo designs in the picture are all of dragons. There are Korean, Japanese, Chinese and even Western dragons depicted. This allows you to choose a dragon tattoo design your happy with and also get a taste of all the colors that are possible. After all, tattoos are a very personal thing and it’s sometimes best to have a wide variety of designs to look at so you can start getting creative about your design.

Shooting Star Tattoo

Shooting Star Tattoo
Shooting star tattoos are a very popular image, being versatile and pretty. They are suggestive of wishes coming true. They are also indicative of a persons desires to achieve success or stardom. A shooting star tattoo can incorporate a ‘trail’ of smaller stars, which is very pretty and delicate, a great way for a tattoo to cover a slightly larger area but still remain subtle. These tattoos are also a symbol for success and good luck, albeit of a short lived nature. Shooting star tattoos can also symbolize a brief fleeting moment in ones life just like the brief wonder of seeing a shooting star race across the night sky. Brilliant and stunning but lasting only a few moments before they burn up in the atmosphere. They can also be a symbol of reaching one’s ultimate destiny and are popular among stars of Hollywood society. The color of the tattoo can also have a significance. The purple hues depicted in the photograph for example, denote wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic. It can also convey an underlying desire to achieve great wealth or material success. The lighter hues of purple around the shooting star tattoo may also convey a sense of nostalgia or a desire for romantic love.
Shooting Star Tattoo
If your looking for a particular meaning attached to shooting star tattoos, I’m sorry to disappoint you. There really is no predetermined symbolism for a shooting star. Back in many of the ancient cultures the aboriginal people thought that shooting stars were either the gods themselves or some sign from the gods. Thus the ancients would ascribe their own cultural meaning to these momentous events. Sometimes it might mean that more sacrifices are required by the gods or maybe it is time to plant the corn. Each of the different cultures had their own beliefs about what a shooting star meant. However, almost every culture held the star in high symbolic importance. In modern times we see shooting stars more for their beauty and brilliance and not as a message from the gods themselves. This allows us to ascribe whatever meaning we want. One of the common meanings that get ascribed to the shooting star tattoo is a seize the day symbol. A shooting star comes into the sky quickly and then burns out brilliantly all in a short span of time. Thus has lead some people see the shooting star a symbol to live life to the fullest. So, go ahead and get a shooting star tattoo and Carpe Diem (or seize the day)!

Turtle Tattoos

Turtle Tattoos
If your thinking of getting a turtle tattoo there are many different styles available to you. You can choose from a tribal turtle, to a cartoon type turtle or even an actual depiction of a turtle as shown in the picture. But, there is one thing for certain. Turtle tattoos have a very deep and well established symbolism especially in Native American cultures. The turtle is a major character in Native American mythology. In some stories the turtle is responsible for creating North America and in other stories turtles are responsible for the creation of the entire world!! According to the vast majority of these stories, the spirit of the sky was looking down from the heavens through a hole she had found when suddenly she fell through and plummeted into the vast waters below. Concerned for her life, the Great Sea Turtle swam deep to the bottom of the waters, scooped up some earth on its back, and carried it back to the surface as a place for Sky Spirit to stand on. But, even if your not interested in the Native American interpretations of the turtle design, a turtle tattoo can still make a deeply meaningful design. Attribute your own meanings to it and make it a part of yourself.
Turtle Tattoos
I personally am a huge fan of turtle tattoos, and this one really interested me by the way it was designed. I really like how there is water and bubbles around the turtle which were used with a cornflower blue and a pastel blue. I like turtle tattoos so much I think I am going to get a few on my arms and lower back. I just recently bought a large book with hundreds of pictures of turtle tattoos, and this really helped me decide how I want my tattoos to be designed. My family thinks I am crazy for liking them so much, but I could care less because turtle tattoos are symbolic for being strong and empowered.

I would recommend getting a tattoo of a turtle as a first choice to anyone. If you really know which tattoo you want to get then contact a local artist and have him or her show you their work and see if they can take care of the design you really want. Its not that hard once you find the right tattoo artist. I know a couple here in town that I trust with almost any tattoo I want put on. Their is one girl that is the best I have ever seen anywhere.

Chest Tattoo

Chest Tattoo
This chest tattoo brings a dark picture together with bright colors and flowers. The color’s used in this chest tattoo are green, blue, orange, pink, gold, white, tan, purple, and black, and all the colors are blended real well. The skulls in this chest tattoo are grey with hints of white around the edges and the teeth. One tooth on each skull is gold. The eye sockets on each skull start off a very light pink on the edges and fades to a black near the outer rim of the sockets. The same goes for the nose of each skull, pink near the back, black near the outer rim. Green vines flow through the nose and eye sockets of each skull. Different colored flowers, ranging from pink to green, and blue to orange, grow on the vines growing from out of the skulls. This chest tattoo is unique and original because it mixes a morbid image like a skull and the beautiful colors of flowers all in one tattoo. This is one chest tattoo that anyone would be interested in, because it mixes so many different styles of art into one piece of artwork. This is a really good tattoo.
Chest Tattoo
This is a great representation of what an average person can do with a chest tattoo. Chest tattoos can be hidden or revealed at will, so you can put just about any design there. And because there is a lot of space to work with, chest tattoos can sport some pretty large designs with a lot of different elements in them. The chest tattoo in the picture is frequently referred to as a chest piece, because it covers from shoulder to shoulder like an armors chest piece. The wearer has combined several different things in his design. On one shoulder is written the word "love", on the other is written the word "hate". In the center of this chest piece is a hand holding cards, generally used to mean luck or chance. I would venture to say that the intended symbolism of this design is to infer that all things in this life are hanging on the whims of fate. And that includes love and hate or peace and war. The again, the bearer of this chest tattoo could have simply chosen the design because it looks really hot and is done in a more traditional type of style. What do you think?

Chinese Tattoos

Chinese Tattoos
I was at an ink convention in Las Vegas not to long ago and I saw a lot of artists using the chinese tattoos as an add on to a lot of their designs. I think it looks totally cool when it is done in a hot looking way. Have you ever noticed that chinese tattoos are probably the most popular tattoos out their in the public right now. I think Hollywood and the Hollywood elites have made it so. Tons of actors and actresses now have their favorite proverbs and sayings used for their chinese tattoos. Besides Demi Moore their are probably hundreds of southern California rich kids having chinese tattoos put on their bodies right at this moment in time.

If they want to look cool, what better way to look cool in this environment than to have some hot looking tattoos. It gives them something to parade around at all the new movie showings and to get the camera’s clicking at. It’s a wild time for the tattoo and art industry. If you are looking to gather up some new tatts and hit the town running, don’t forget about that great chinese tattoo everyone is talking about.

Chinese Tattoos
Chinese Tattoos are rapidly becoming some of the most recent and fashionable trends inside the tattoo world and indeed the rest of the world too. All nations has its own fashion of tattoo designing and one that strongly resembles the individuals fine art, culture and tradition. Presently, Chinese letter tattoos are one of the most liked fashions. I don’t know what this Chinese tattoo symbolizes, because to be quite honest I don’t speak Chinese. But, there is one thing that I know about Chinese tattoos. And that’s too be quite careful about not only who is doing the design but also what the design means. Prior to inking Chinese tattoos over your skin, you need to make damn sure that you understand the meaning of those letters, or at the least the artist does. A lot of tattoos artists could accidentally misguide you by misusing the incorrect form of Chinese letter tattoos and that is something that you need to remain aware of. Chinese tattoos appear in diverse shapes and sizes and a lot of men and women are at the present getting them on their numerous parts of their skin. These tattoos are very individual and a lot of tattoo artists are attempting to employ Chinese letter tattoos more often. This type of skin tattoo is getting really fashionable with women.

Female Tattoos

Female Tattoos
The definition of a female tattoo is a lot broader then what it used to be. Once upon a time female tattoos included only those designs such as hearts and flowers. But, now many female tattoos include designs that once fell in the realm of men. These include scorpions, eagles and even anchors. But, there are several female tattoo designs which still squarely belong in the female’s corner. These include fairy, dragonfly and dolphin tattoos. Let’s take a minute and talk about these uniquely female tattoos. People envision fairies as cute girls with magical powers, so it’s not hard to see where the appeal of fairy tattoos comes from and why women like them a lot. The dragonfly tattoo is another winged design that is predominately inked on women. And the dragonfly is often popular because it has the same magical quality about it as fairy tattoos do. Dolphin tattoos are the last favorite female tattoo. They are often valued for the sensitivity and intelligence. So, it’s no wonder that it’s in the top three of female tattoos. What other female tattoos can you think of? Considering the cute bird in this tattoo design, perhaps I should have placed birds on the list.

Rihanna Tattoo

Rihanna Tattoo
If your looking for a perfect example of a celebrity that has a varied and fascinating collection of body art then look no further then Rihanna’s tattoos. This Barbadian singer, model, and beauty queen has twelve tattoos. They include a music note on her ankle, a pisces sign behind her right ear, Sanskrit prayer going down her hip and a star in her left ear. But, that’s only the beginning. She also has the word ‘love’ on her left middle finger, an Arabic phrase on her ribcage area, meaning ‘Freedom is God’, a trail of stars going down her back and a cute skull with a pink hair bow. Recent additions to Rihanna’s tattoo collection include the phrase ’shhh…’ on her right index finger, the date ‘4.11.1986′ on top of her left shoulder, a henna-style dragon claw, complete with Hawaiian hibiscus flowers and a handgun, which Rihanna got during the midst of all the relationship abuse stories and rumors. These last tattoos were all done between June of 2008 to March of 2009. I wonder what the rest of this year and the years to follow what other Rihanna tattoos are going to pop up.

Various Fonts Word Tattoo Picture

"I don't want the world I only want what I deserve" reads this tattoo. Interesting combination of fonts: script, typewriter, futuristic, scrawled, negative space. Nice addition of a red lightening bolt and circle. Unique typography design.

Word Vegan Tattoo Picture

Vegan written in a vine like script. Nice green and yellow colors carry the vegan theme. On the hip of a female.

Cool Arm Word Tattoo Design

This guy has a cool arm tattoo in black ink. It's written in a boxy text outline font with minimal leading between the letters. Tried rotating it, getting the mirror image, etc, but can't make any sense of the letters. They seem to read rjshmor. Anyhow, nice tattoo design and a fun mystery to guess what it means.

Wrist Word Tattoo Design

An elaborate font is used on this woman's wrist tattoo. The tattoo says "air" in black ink. Simple, elegant tattoo.

Unique Tribal Design Tattoo

Most tribal designs are in a dark black ink. This has a subtle gray ink with white ink highlights. The name of this tattoo is bicho, which is Spanish for critter.

Unique Batman with Roses Tattoo

We've seen lots of rose tattoos and an occasional Batman tattoo, but this is unique in the combo of both. The old tv version Batman is depicted in an excellent portait. He is framed in faded rose frame and there is a halo-type light behind him.

Unique Baby Angel Baby Devil Tattoo

A lighter take on the previous picture's theme; here a baby angel kicks a soccer ball at the goal guarded by a baby devil. The baby devil has a pitchfork, wonder if he's going to skewer the ball?

Pictures Tattoos

Pictures Tattoos
If your looking for a fantastic design to ink into your skin then you should really try to get a picture tattoo. Picture tattoos take actual representations of a person, place or object and ink them into your skin. They actually look like pictures. And the options you have available to you are almost unlimited. Want a picture tattoo of your great aunt? No problem. Want a picture tattoo of your beloved pet dog? You can get that done too. Look at this picture tattoo and you’ll see what I’m talking about. This tattoo design features a real map like representation of Italy. But, the artist didn’t stop there. Inside the map of Italy, the artist added pictures of famous landmarks. You have the colosseum at the top of the design and at the bottom is the leaning tower of Pisa. And the whole thing is designed so that it looks like it’s part of this person’s skin. It’s a really cool design and the colors that it’s shaded with are simply incredible. The whole tattoo has an almost old world feel to it. This gives you an idea of what can be done with this interesting design motif.
Pictures Tattoos
This is a very, very good example of a memorial pictures tattoo. Every detail of this picture tattoo is intricate, even the very small details. There not a lot of coloring in this, but the shading makes up for the lack of color in this tattoo. The hair is shaded a dark brown color, and the bangs are pronounced. The eyes have a gleam of white in them, as if they are shining. The wrinkles in the sweater are shaded and well defined. The wrinkles on the fingers and hands are shaded, and the nails are well pronounced with a tint of white as though they were gleaming. The name is well defined in the lower left hand corner and easy to read. The facial hair is dark and faded, and the smile lines are well defined. The shadow on the right of the portrait is shaded and fades outwards towards a lighter color. This is one of those portraits that shows what time and a little bit of hard work can do. This tattoo is amazingly detailed, shaded, tinted, and has a real nice motive behind it. This is what a good picture tattoo looks like.

Small Tattoos

Small Tattoos
This is a very realistic representation of a ladybug. This small tattoo has almost a three dimensional aspect to it. And it’s so lifelike it looks like it’s going to jump right out at you. But, why would someone get a small tattoo of a ladybug tattooed on them? Well, it might be because this small tattoo looks good but it also may be because of the ladybugs symbolic meaning. Cultures all over the world associate the fabled Ladybug with Good Luck and Good Fortune. For the English and French farmers it indicates good weather. In Sweden and other countries the Ladybug will bring Good Luck with finding your true love. It’s also believed that a Ladybug landing on a person will bring Good Fortune, and if one lands on you when you are ill, it takes the illness away. If a ladybug lands on the hand of a recently married woman the number of dots on its back is the number of children she will have. And considering the beautiful and docile nature of the ladybug, it’s a really good small tattoo to get inked into your skin. Especially on members of the fairer gender.
Small Tattoos
Here are two different small tattoos that have similar meanings. The small tattoo on the left is of baby footprints. This small tattoo design is symbolic of the number of children this person has. See the names of the children next to the foot prints? This small tattoo is clearing celebrating the birth of this person’s children. The tattoo on the right has three brightly colored lizards, again with the names of children next to them. Now, if I didn’t know for a fact that this too was a small tattoo commemorating the birth of the person’s children, I would assume that it had a different meaning. Different cultures regard lizard tattoos with varying symbolism. Native Americans, for example, associate lizards with dreams; therefore, those with lizard tattoos could be seen as dreamers or individuals who can interpret dreams. The Romans would have viewed lizard tattoos as symbols of rebirth and resurrection due to their belief that lizards hibernated. But, since this tattoo clearly celebrates three births, we will leave the lizard symbolism alone. Now, if your looking for a small tattoo that commemorates your children then don’t just confine yourself to these designs. Stars, moons, roses or even ants could be used in the same way.

Flame Tattoo

Flame Tattoo
Flame tattoos provide wonderful meanings and anyone who finds these tattoos on your skin will most likely give you some kind words. And these flame tattoos can have some very diverse meanings. They can say everything from, "Hey, I’m hot!’ to telling the viewer that you are a force to be reckoned with. And only with flame tattoos can you get a design that is not only beautiful but also seems to come alive. Since the dawn of time, man has always been fascinated with fire. And as soon as us humans got a chance we harnessed this unforgiving force of nature for our own purposes. And many religions have described flames as the symbol of death and rebirth. Look at the phoenix tattoos that so many perople are wearing nowadays. What would that design be without the characteristic flames engulfing the bird? When choosing a flame tattoo you should remember one thing. There are two types of fire-flame tattoos. One is the tribal tattoo and the other is the old-school tattoo. The flame tattoo in the picture is a perfect example of an old school tattoo. It’s bright and colorful with plenty of hues of red and orange.
Flame Tattoo
Yeah I like these tattoos a lot, they look like it’s time for the party to begin. If you love fast cars and fast bikes, a flame tattoo is just the way to go. They look fast and furious with the flames and the skulls screaming bring it on world, give me all you got baby. Oh man I have seen a few guys with tattoos just like these and they are kicking big time. Everyone loves hot red flames on anything, give me a rock guitar or a hopped up fast car, add flames to them, you got one bad to the bone item their my friends. I think when I see a flame tattoo, it brings to mind the Hell Boy movies, and of course the skulls are totally awesome.

A great flame tattoo is worn by one of the rock guitarists out of a local band and he has his guitar painted the same way. So when you go see them live, the visual is hotter than Hades, I really love these tattoos, the color is just amazing. To me a super flame tattoo has to be placed right there on the arm so everyone can see it, but if you want to put a flame tattoo on your leg or back, no big deal, they will look good no matter where they are placed.

Cute Tattoos

Cute Tattoos
Cute tattoos are generally characterized as animals or people done in a cartoonish way. And they are usually considered to be feminine in nature. How many guys have you heard say that they want to get a tattoo because it’s cute? Not, too many I would imagine. And the image in the picture is a perfect example of a cute tattoo. It meets all the requirements. It has a cute and cuddly character that you just want to squeeze the cheeks on. And it’s a direct reference to pop culture. Many middle aged men would recognize the character in this tattoo as Chilly Willy, the lovable and amiable penquin from the cartoons of our childhoods. Other characters that would fit the bill just as well would be Yosemite Sam, Bugs Bunny and my favorite the Tazmanian Devil. Though the latter is probably not just a cute tattoo, because there are plenty of men out there sporting him on their backs or their upper arms. So, maybe these tattoos are not just for females any longer. The next time you consider getting a tattoo that appears to be a little cute, then give it a good second thought. It might just be the perfect tattoo to fit into your collection.
Cute Tattoos
Cute tattoos often run the gambit from cartoon characters to literary characters. They are often considered to be squarely in the realm of the feminine though really anybody could get one of these tattoos. Cute tattoos generally tend to be a woman’s first choice when choosing a design. They are whimsical and are most of the time quickly and easily done. These cute tattoos are generally placed on the hip or the lower back but they are sometimes also placed on the feet. In fact, these tattoos can generally be placed anywhere on the body with good results. The cute tattoo in the picture is either one of the fabled little red riding hood or maybe a 1920’s style flapper. Regardless of whom you think it is, it’s a wonderful piece of art. The huge eyes and the brilliant color really make this cute tattoo pop out at the viewer. So, the next time you consider getting more body art done then a nice cute tattoo like the one in the picture may be right up your alley. A small colorful piece will almost certainly fit in with any of your other tattoos regardless of style.

Peace Sign Tattoos

Peace Sign Tattoos
When it come to peace sign tattoos this one seems to be the one that really stands out as a classic. You know the type you would mostly expect to see. It looks just like the one that you would find painted on the side of the flower painted Volkswagen bus. It makes you want to take out a guitar and start singing folk songs and stuff like that. Let your hair grow down to your back and walk around saying ‘right on’. And while your at it you can move into a hippy commune and live in barn that has a sixteen foot high peace sign just like this one painted on the side of it.

You just never know what kind of feeling you’ll conjure up from people when show them peace sign tattoos. Of course the youngest among us, have no real memories of those days and all they know is what they may have seen once or twice in a Woodstock documentary. But the idea of the peace sign was actually a nice one. Make love, not war was the motto of the day and there’s never anything wrong with that. To all of the peace sign tattoos, I say thanks for the memories.

Peace Sign Tattoos
Peace sign tattoo seem to be everywhere in recent years. It seems like there are more and more people sporting these designs. But, few people know the history of the peace sign. So, before you decide if you want one or not let’s take a moment and discuss the history of the peace sign tattoo. One of the most widely known symbols in the world, in Britain it is recognized as standing for nuclear disarmament and in particular as the logo of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a professional designer and artist and a graduate of the Royal College of Arts. He showed his preliminary sketches to a small group of people in the Peace News office in North London and to the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War. The Direct Action Committee had already planned what was to be the first major anti-nuclear march, from London to Aldermaston, where British nuclear weapons were and still are manufactured. It was on that march, over the 1958 Easter weekend that the symbol first appeared in public. Gerald Holtom explained that the symbol incorporated the semaphore letters N(uclear) and D(isarmament). And now that your armed with a little knowledge about the history of the peace sign tattoo then you can go out and get yours done with confidence.

Spider Tattoos

Spider Tattoos
The spider tattoo in this picture is of a tarantula. Tarantulas are fierce looking and are the largest members of the spider family but are really gentle unless provoked. But, this spider tattoo takes on the symbolism of all members of the spider family. Spider tattoos can be seen as symbols of good luck or symbols of treachery and evil. It all depends on the bearers own personal views. Another thing that a spider tattoo symbolizes is a denial of the established order. It was often a symbol of the outlaw or someone who felt that they existed out of the norms of society. This meaning has pretty much fallen to the wayside as the spider tattoo entered mainstream society. Another meaning that has pretty much fallen away is the spider as a gang symbol. The spider and it’s web was once tattooed on inmates who have served time. But, now the spider tattoo can be seen on just about anyone, whether they are a criminal or not. So, the next time your looking to get ink done consider getting a tarantula spider tattoo. It’s meaning is whatever you want it to be or think it should be. Just enjoy it.
Spider Tattoos
When it come to tattoo images we can be talking about virtually anything but in this case it would seem we’re talking about portraits. Perhaps even a portrait of an old movie starlet. Could this be Lana Turner or some other famous Hollywood star. I really don’t know. I’m just guessing. If you look at this tattoo closely you can see a few other much smaller faces below this lady but I cannot see them in enough detail to really get anything from them. So all they really do is ad more to the mystery of what we are looking at. Some tattoo images can be very misleading.

The only other significant thing I can see in this tattoo is that this woman appears to be smoking and I believe in the days women wore their hair like this it was frowned on for women to be smokers. But where does that lead us, right back to jump street. This one only goes to show us all that tattoo images can only show us so much and there are going to be those times when the person with the tattoo has to come out and explain exactly what it is meant to be.

Unique Lizard and Flower Tattoo

Beautiful colors on this tattoo of a lizard with a flower and leaves.

Unique Ladybug Angel Wings Tattoo

Just a very simple idea of combining a lady bug with angel wings. Cute and unique.

Unique Day of Dead Sugar Skull Tattoo

A different take on the sugar skull. Here its brains are yarn, its dagger is a scissors and its crossbones are needles.

Unique Kanji Black and White Ink Tattoo

The Japanese/Chinese character for Tao is done in black and white ink to give a subtle three-d effect.

kanji tattoos

kanji love tattoo
This flash is based on the kanji character for love. I've replaced the traditional calligraphy brushstrokes with apostrophic characters. This design is highly stylized; so the emphasis is on aesthetics, not fidelity to the original characters. I call it kanffiti (kanji + graffiti).

kanji dragon
The meaning of this symbol is dragon

tao logo tatoo
This is also for tao. Looks like a baseball logo: "... and playing for center field, Lao Tzu!..."

Well, I guess if you're into the whole "long life" biz, here's a kanji tattoo meaning just that.

Some privacy for tattooing women

Some women would like to have a little privacy, so it is a good idea to keep a spare tube top handy for them, so they don’t get any ink on their clothes. Many women will ask for a private session for more privacy.
An office chair on wheels can be used to move around easily to get in different positions. It may or may not have arms on it, has an adjustable back rest and the height should be adjustable also. Armrests work good for steadying the hand while tattooing.
A folding chair can be used for the customer to sit in. A front rail between the two front legs makes a good foot brace for the tattoo artist when working on an ama tattoo. Some like to work off their lap and find it handy to brace elbows on their leg while doing a bicep, for arm or ankle.
To do a back piece, have them sit facing the back of the folding chair with one leg through the opening in the back so they don’t have to spread their legs so far apart. This position is easier for the artist as long as the tattoo is on the upper part of the back. A pillow under the Customer’s arms draped over the back of the chair will make it more comfortable. If the piece is too low down on the back to do comfort-ably in a sitting position, lay them down on a weight bench. The weight bench works well for chest pieces, stomachs, legs and backsides. You should move the customer where you can reach them best, and still have the ink, sprays and paper towels within easy reach. Then adjust the light so you can see well.
This Outline is a basic set-up to get you started. It is the duty of every tattooist to familiarize themselves with this, then take over where this chapter has left off, customizing the área to suit their own needs.

Guideline to get started for tattooing

This list is not totally complete, but it is a good guideline to get you started. Few people can purchase it all at once and must slowly put it together. Don’t be fright-ened by the long list, all the equipment is quite small and portable. Compared to other businesses, this list is pretty simple and not as expensive as some practices can be. Buying in order of importance and practicality first seems to be a smart direction to follow.
Tattooists must have an organized área around them for any kind of efficient work. The universal approach is a work table in front of the worker for proper and easy location of Ítems. You may make the table, but the best and most professional one you can afford would be a wiser choice. It’s important to make sure it is fíat, sits sturdy, and is easy to clean and keep clean. It should also be large enough to hold everything you will need. It is advisable to have a knee cutout in the front of the table (rather then solid) so the customer on some occasions can get right up cióse to the table to keep your reaching to a minimum. A standard table is about 20 inches wide, 48 inches long and a comfortable height off the ground. The top can be fórmica, finished hardwood or preferably stainless steel or glass. A small sink with hot and cold faueets should be mounted in the top off to the side. Sit in a chair beside the sink, facing the farther end of the table so the sink will be on your right side. If you are left handed, everything will be the opposite.
Everything should be within easy reach. The things used most often should be located the closest to you, and the Ítems used less often are located further away. The items used the most are things like caps full of ink, the carbolated vaseline and the spray bottle of green soap. Also, the lamp and paper towels should be within easy reach. Slightly further back, but stül within easy reach, is the spray bottle of alcohol, extra ink caps, three washes to clean the ink out of tubes when colors are changed, going from the first distilled water to the second distilled water to the alcohol last. A little further back are bandage supplies, extra needle bars, tubes and inks, with machine rack just barely within reach to hold spare tattoo machines or another machine with a different set-up. One for outlines and one for shading and coloring.
